Teaching philosophy and mentorship
A commitment to interdisciplinary training in bioinformatics, computational biology, and data-driven discovery, with an emphasis on practical, hands-on skills.
My teaching philosophy centers on creating an engaging, inclusive learning environment that bridges theoretical concepts with practical applications. I emphasize critical thinking and problem-solving through interactive teaching methods and real-world examples.
In bioinformatics education, I highlight interdisciplinary approaches, combining biological knowledge with computational skills so students from both biology and computer science backgrounds can thrive.
I regularly incorporate student feedback and emerging educational technologies to enhance the learning experience. My goal is to prepare students for success by equipping them with both technical skill and conceptual understanding.
To date, I have worked with students and trainees across multiple programs and institutions, helping them design rigorous analyses, interpret complex omics datasets, and communicate results clearly to diverse audiences.
